What is the ACT?
The ACT is a standardized exam used for admissions into colleges and universities. It is administered at national test sites several times each year. Students register for this exam online and must adhere to ACT deadlines. To register or to learn more about the ACT, visit act.org.
The ACT consists of four tests:
English: 75 questions; 45 minutes
Math: 60 questions; 60 minutes
Reading: 40 questions; 35 minutes
Science: 40 questions: 35 minutes
Optional Essay: one prompt; 40 minutes

Montana School Day ACT:
The Montana School Day ACT takes place in the spring semester of a student's junior year and is free to all eligible students. Scores earned on the state ACT are accepted by colleges, universities, the NCAA, and all scholarships.

ACT Academy provides students with a personalized study plan based on their scores from the ACT® test, PreACT®, or official ACT practice tests through video lessons, interactive practice questions, full-length practice tests, educational games and other materials targeted to their academic needs.

What is the SAT?
The SAT is a standardized exam used for admissions into college and universities. It is administered at national test sites several times each year. Students register for this exam online and must adhere to SAT deadlines. To register or to learn more about the SAT, visit www.collegeboard.org.
The SAT consists of four tests:
Reading: 52 questions; 65 minutes
English: 44 questions; 35 minutes
Math no calculator: 20 questions; 25 minutes
Math w/calculator: 38 questions; 55 minutes
Optional Essay: one prompt; 50 minutes
SAT Subject Tests:
The SAT Subject Tests are one-hour tests in individual subject areas. For all information regarding dates, times, locations, and to register online go to www.collegeboard.org. Some colleges require one, two, or three of these tests in addition to the ACT or SAT for admissions. Students should check with the college to which they are applying to determine the tests they are required to take.
